Farewell Serasi

In February 2025 we unexpectedly lost our incredible ranger Serasi.

Serasi was one of our senior rangers. He was highly skilled, and incredibly dedicated to his work.

He was hugely respected by our team, but also by the many forest-edge communities that he worked with.

He dedicated his life to protecting the people and wildlife of Gunung Leuser National Park, undertaking patrols, dismantling snares, engaging with local communities, mitigating human wildlife conflict, and protecting endangered species.

Serasi’s story is a powerful reminder of the daily risks faced by rangers on the frontlines of conservation. Each year, around 150 rangers lose their lives while protecting our natural world - The Thin Green Line Foundation

Serasi made the ultimate sacrifice protecting the wildlife and people of the forest-edge. Our team is deeply saddened by his passing and our thoughts are with his family.
