Keeping tigers out
Recently Sumatran Ranger Project funded the construction and labour of a livestock corral, to provide a safe haven for livestock in the community of Porli, North Sumatra.

Our unwavering supporters at Toronto Zoo had planned another Bonspiel, or curling tournament for this month in support of conservation efforts.

We offered community members the opportunity to cease working in oil palm by making bracelets from the snare wire waste our team collects every month while on patrol.

Our team has a lot of respect in the forest edge communities they patrol in and recently there has been a spate of calls from different villages, asking for help with human-wildlife conflict events.


Curling for Conservation!
Zookeepers at Toronto Zoo in Ontario, Canada recently held their annual curling tournament fundraiser, in support of Sumatran Ranger Project.


WILD Education
We are humbled and honoured to have been asked to appear in Wild Education's impressive new documentary, Keepers of the Forest.


Snare Removal in the Leuser Ecosystem
Our patrol team does an incredible job of maintaining a presence in the buffer zone every month, removing snares and helping to keep wildlife safe.


December in the forest
Our camera traps in Sumatra have captured amazing footage of a variety of species, some of which are Critically Endangered, including capturing for the first time, footage of a female Sumatran orangutan walking along the ground.


A Global Conservation Force
Our Sumatran Ranger Project patrol and camera trapping teams hosted guests from Global Conservation Force (GCF) in the US.


Human-Elephant Conflict Workshop
Sumatran Ranger Project Head ranger Jack is attending a human-elephant conflict mitigation workshop in Jambi province, run by the Frankfurt Zoological Society near Bukit Tigapuluh National Park.


Shave for Sumatra
On the 26th of October one of The Sumatran Ranger Project’s long-time supporters Terry Menadue, shaved his head in front of a crowd of supporters.


Camera trapping
Thanks to support from Thin Green Line Foundation, the Sumatran Ranger Project has established a camera trapping program, beginning in one of our forest edge communities, Batu Rongring, in North Sumatra.


Christmas patrolling
Our ranger team are patrolling through Christmas and have been extremely busy in the buffer zone of the Leuser Ecosystem.
