Snare Removal in the Leuser Ecosystem

Our dedicated and passionate ranger, Jason, explains in English (his second language) how a snare is found and then deactivated by our ranger team. Our team are patrolling the Leuser Ecosystem, outside of the Gunung Leuser National Park in the buffer zone, where there is extensive human-wildlife conflict, much of which is in the form of snares that are illegally set to indiscriminately trap wildlife. Many snares are not regularly monitored by those who set them and trapped wildlife is often not found and left to rot. Our patrol team does an incredible job of maintaining a presence in the buffer zone every month, removing snares and helping to keep wildlife safe.
